Project 3: Self Titled

DPI Project 3: Self Titled

Exercise 1

This was an exercise that showed us the inner workings of how After Effects worked and taught us how to use it at a basic level.

I used this picture to practice animating and the basics of after effects.

This is the timeline I worked with for this exercise which resulted in the video appearing like this

Task 3 Self Titled:

This exercise tasked us to create a snapchat-like poster that is animated. A poster that represents us as people, about our passions and such. What builds us as people.

I started off by selecting what kind of vibe I wanted to showcase and I selected these three posters as a reference.

I then proceeded on to sketch out the idea of a poster I wanted to turn into a digital one.

At the end of it all, I decided to choose the sketch on the right, using a drawing of a character I drew as a medium shot and using me as a subject for a wide shot. Giving it a perspective-like feel.

Once I managed to set the tone, and arranged the background of the city, the balcony in the middle and me as the subject in the foreground.

It was then that I added the drawing of my character on top of the city background. Making it look like a hologram of some sort.

I decided to draw out the illustration I was going to use on a program called CLIP STUDIO PAINT.

Once that is done, I decided to add two more elements of myself onto the poster as holograms to accompany my character.

I added a pen and a controller onto my poster as I felt like adding and giving a clearer understanding on who I am as a person.

I believe that this poster exemplifies my passion, my skill and my desire to create. The statement I live by at the bottom of the poster is something I strive by and something I keep striving towards, as the creation, a character I made is standing in front of my figure, showing me what I am capable of. What my skills and hobbies are and have built to me as a person. It showcases what I love to do, and what inspires me to keep on going.

Once the final poster design has been completed, I then used after effects to give it some light animation as showcased by this timeline.

The final product for this video can be found here.
